Mishawaka citizens feel safe under REA Leadership!

Mishawaka residents feel safe in their neighborhoods! Programs like the Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) in the Police Department and the City Neighborhood Improvement Team have helped make sure the City is responsive to the concerns of our citizens. In addition, 30 neighborhood watch groups and neighborhood organizations work hand in hand with the City to make sure criminals know they are not welcome in Mishawaka.

Since the day he took office, it has been a top priority of Mayor Rea to give the Police Department the important tools they need to help fight crime in our neighborhoods and in our business districts. Those tools will help our police prevent crime, rather than just react to it.

The newest tool will be the implementation of a new communication system. It will include,

This will ensure our police officers and city staffers have the latest and best tools available to prevent crime and other unwanted neighborhood problems.

The efforts of the City and its citizens are paying off. While no crime will ever be acceptable, Crime Statistics at the end of 2006 show that crime was down in almost every major category, when compared to the 10 year average. Under Mayor Jeff's leadership, the City and its Police Department will continue their good work in making sure our residents feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods, and at their places of business.
