Spending Your Tax Dollars Wisely!
As the Mayor of Mishawaka, the most important job is managing and spending your tax dollars responsibly and wisely. That is exactly what Mayor Rea has done during his first term as Mayor. It has not always been easy and the Mayor has had to make some very difficult decisions about where to best spend your public dollars. Mayor Rea has cut spending, consolidated services, improved efficiency, and eliminated unnecessary positions and equipment; all while continuing to deliver exceptional city services.
Mayor Rea's efforts are paying off! For example, the 2007 Civil City Tax Rate is lower than the 2006 and 2005 Civil City Tax Rate. In addition, the 2008 budget has a projected increase of only three tenths of one percent over the 2007 budget, the smallest proposed increase of any taxing unit in St. Joseph County. While other governmental units are talking about major cuts and reducing necessary services, Mishawaka is not!
Mayor Rea believes our City is strong, well run, spends its money wisely, and provides quality City services. Mishawaka is the envy of other communities. Mayor Jeff and his team have a clear picture of where they are headed and have placed the City in a good position to meet the challenges of the future.
Make sure tax dollars continue to be spent wisely, and vote Mayor Jeff on November 6.
