A word from Mayor Jeff REA: "I want to thank the citizens of Mishawaka for your vote of confidence and for electing me to serve a second term as your Mayor. I am honored and proud to do so. I do not serve alone. I am surrounded by dedicated and committed friends and colleagues who share my love of this great hometown and a vision of a future of an even better Mishawaka. I am grateful for their loyal friendship, their unconditional support and their hard work. Together we will build on the good work that we started four years ago and continue to foster a community we are all proud to call home. There are so many people to thank, most importantly my family. My Mom, Dad, sister, her husband, my nephews and my niece, thank you for your love, unfailing support and for being willing to put up with all the nonsense that comes with my running for political office. I know that it is hardest on all of you and I am grateful that you are in my corner. I want to thank everyone on my reelection campaign team for your hard work. You have made this evening possible. Thank you for each call that you made, each sign that you put out, each pamphlet that you stuffed and delivered, for standing outside today in the frigid cold, and most importantly for believing in me and sharing our vision for Mishawaka. I want to thank my fellow Republican candidates and their families for their commitment of time, energy and sacrifice to run honorable, issue orientated campaigns. It was an honor to share the ticket with each of you. Congratulations to Dave Wood and Marsha McClure on your victories. The 2nd and 4th Districts are in good hands and I look forward to serving with each of you in the next four years as together we work hard for the citizens of Mishawaka. Congratulations also to Jason Mazurkiewica, Mike Hodgson Dave Schmidt, and Matt Dodd on great campaigns. Each of you are very bright, care a lot about Mishawaka, and ran outstanding campaigns. I look forward to all of them being involved in some role with my team as we look to continue to improve Mishawaka. Over the last couple of weeks, my opponent tried to use personal attacks to influence the voters of Mishawaka. But he underestimated the pride that the people of Mishawaka feel for our community. We are proud of our hometown because of our strong, safe and clean neighborhoods; because our Parks and Riverwalk are beautiful places where we love to gather, relax, exercise and enjoy our families and friends, because our Public Safety Departments are well trained, and well equipped, because our Utilities are cost effective and dependable and because our exciting downtown and River Center Development is underway. It has really been an incredible honor to serve as your Mayor these past four years. I am grateful and overwhelmed by your support and your belief in the good work that we are doing for Mishawaka. Thank you for the honor of continuing as Mayor for the next four years. I look forward to what we will accomplish together, as a community in this great hometown that we call home.” Mayor Jeff
